Referring to your telegram of 7th.
February informing me of the retirement of Mr. J. F. Boulton
and to paragraph 3 of your Despatch No. 39 of 10th. February
requesting me to submit recommendations with regard to his
successor, I have the honour to state that I have appointed
Mr. H. P. Tooker, the Senior Executive Engineer in the
Public Works Department, to act as Second Assistant Director
of Public Works as from the 1st. ultimo and I recommend that
he should be substantively appointed to that post with effect
from the 12th. ultimo at the existing salary namely, $4,800
to $5,100 by $300 triennially with a conveyance allowance of
$360 per annum. A record of Mr. Tooker's service will be
found on page 333 of the Civil Service List for the year 1911

I have communicated with Mr. Tooker
in the above sense and in reply he asks that should you be
pleased to approve of his appointment he may be allowed to
